| History/Introduction
The idea for IC Centre for Governance emerged when an informal group of like minded professionals decided to collectively think on issues in the area of governance. An international network of people of all traits and backgrounds conceived the idea of programmes for reconciliation, tackling the root cause of corruption, poverty and social exclusion, at Asia Plateau(link - info on Asia Plateau to be given). The International Conference on Globalisation at the Asia Plateau in January 2003 brought out that for most, globalization evokes apprehension and fear of not being able to compete, of domination, and of being left behind. At this conference, more than 170 participants from 16 countries, over hours of discussion and deliberations, reached a consensus that central to achieving success in the globalizing world is the issue of governance. Governance is a key factor and calls for putting our own house in order first. In line with that, a resolution was passed to set up a entre for Governance in a Round Table Conference in Panchgani in May 2003. Stakeholders in governance were identified in Bangalore, and an Action Plan suggested in Delhi. The idea of the Centre got endorsement at several other places. The trustees of ' Initiatives of Change' then took action on the consensus, and the Centre was launched.
Initiatives of Change is an informal, international network of people of all faiths and backgrounds working to change the world by first seeking change in their own lives. These moments of personal transformation often mark a new direction in a person's life.
It works for moral and spiritual renewal in all areas of life. Its starting point is the readiness of each person to apply the four standards of absolute honesty, purity, unselfishness and love in focusing on the challenge of personal and global change.
